Sometimes we are presented with opportunities in life that absolutely can not be missed even if it means renting a car, booking a hotel, leaving work early and driving 4 hours up Interstate 45. This past weekend, that opportunity presented itself in the form of The Makeup Show, a pro-only trade show dedicated to makeup artistry and networking.
I had the pleasure of being invited to attend what I now consider my version of heaven. I spoke with representatives of some of my favorite brands, learned about makeup industry newcomers, made new blogging friends and enjoyed pro pricing on all purchases.

James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and Director of Education & Artistry for the Makeup Show, greeted blogger guests during the Blogger Preview where he shared his vision and the order of events for the weekend. Identifying inspiration and education as the theme, James poured out his love and passion for the beauty industry in his moving welcome speech where he gave inside details on his start in the makeup industry.
Bloggers were gifted AWESOME swag bags that included both sample and full sized products from NARS Cosmetics, Melanie Mills Hollywood, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and more. Make sure you are subscribed to my youtube channel where I will be doing a massive haul outlining my finds and purchases.
Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, The Makeup Show helps bridge industry beginners and experts with education and networking through its multiple hands-on-workshops, forums, and keynote speakers. This year The Makeup Show boasted its first ever career fair where attendees interested in makeup artistry jobs had the chance to sit down with hiring managers from beauty powerhouses like Sephora and MAC Cosmetics for on-the-spot interviews and job offers.
The Makeup Show gave attendees a chance to enjoy pro discounts from vendors like Inglot Cosmetics and Beautylish. I was able to get my hands on many items that were on my already long makeup wish list like the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, tons of eyelashes and eyeshadow, makeup brushes from Crown Brush, and the, new to the U.S., Bioderma Sensibio H2O.
No makeup show is complete without out-of-this-world fantasy body paint. I enjoyed watching models transform from gorgeous everyday women into ethereal creaturs at the hands of super talented theatrical makeup artist.
Thank you to the PR team of The Makeup Show for your generous invite. I truly enjoyed this event and look forward to attending next year.
