Ok…I am all about fashion and style, class and grace; so I thought it would be absolutely essential that I teach all aspiring IT Girls how to build a wardrobe. I know it appears to be a daunting task however these simple steps should make becoming That IT Girl fun and exciting.
.

.
1. Take Inventory… The first step to building a fabulous, fashion forward wardrobe is taking inventory of what you already have on hand. Grab a glass of wine, call your girls over, and put on a Carrie Bradshaw-esq fashion show. Have your friends rate each item of clothing, keep the items that are still in style and fit well; donate everything else.
Once this is complete, create a log of each item you have so that when you go shopping you do not purchase items you already own.
2. Find Your Inspiration… We all have them…you know…people that we look up to in awe. Whether it is a star studded celebrity, or a best friend, it is beneficial to all IT Girls to find someone to identify with. For example, I love Jada Pinkett’s style. She is always sophisticated and her red carpet looks have always inspired me when I shop for formal gowns. Your style inspiration can be one or multiple people, and you can choose elements from each person to create your own style. The point is to get inspired and motivated to look fabulous at all times.
You see, celebrities are paid to look beautiful, and can afford the services of high-priced stylist to keep them up to date. This basically makes them billboards for the latest trends.
When finding fashion inspiration it helps to find someone with similar looks, style, and body type. Remember that the key using a celebrity as your fashion inspiration is to make sure that you always incorporate items that are unique to your personality.

3. Create a Look Book… You will need a notebook or three-ring binder, scissors, tape or glue, and magazines and/or catalogs.
Collect pictures of items you like, or take pictures of yourself in your designer duds and arrange the pictures in your notebook as you see fit. Leave room to write notes and make sure you get as creative as possible.
Creating a look book allows you to discover your sense of style, keep up with trends, and notice reoccurring themes in your style choices.
4. Go Shopping!… You are now equipped get out there and create a wardrobe fit for an IT Girl. This is the most exciting part of building your new style identity, so enjoy and of course…stay fabulous.
