MAC Lip Colors That Make Me Swoon

I will never forget the time in my life when I saved enough money to purchase my very first MAC lipstick.  I think I was about 17 years old and I remember bubbling over from excitement because my home town had finally opened its first MAC store.

.

.

Now at that time, paying more then a few bucks for a lipstick was hard on my teenage pockets, however, I’d heard so much about the brand that I was willing to part with the money to get MAC into my then tiny makeup collection.

Well here I am years later still wearing MAC lip colors with most of my makeup looks.  I have tested and collected quite a few and have managed to pick out 6 colors that I keep in heavy rotation.

.

Bare Again:

A pink toned neutral beige lipstick that goes well with everyday makeup looks.

.

Velvet Teddy:

A deep matte beige that I LOVE to pair with smokey black eyeshadow.

.

Creme Cup:

A blue-pink lipstick that goes well with almost any eyeshadow look.

.

Up the Amp:

A lavender violet color that looks amazing with both lavender and hot pink lip gloss.

.

Ruby Woo:

A matte, vivid red color that is amazing for a hot night out with friends or that special someone.

.

Pink Nouveau:

A bright pink lipstick that I love to pair with neutral eyeshadow and winged black eyeliner.  This one is a real head turner.

Vintage Green Makeup Look

I have been in a particularly nostalgic mood lately and have been loving vintage photography.  The golds, the greens, the pale washed out blues, and the dusty bronzes are all colors that typically stand out to me and inspired me to create this rich but subtle makeup look.

Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System Review

I will never forget the first time I used the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System.  The vibrating action tickled my nose so much that I giggled all the way through the cleansing process.  I could not help but think that if something made me smile that hard during use, it had to be worth its weight in gold, and indeed it was.  That was 2 years ago, and my Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System continues to make me smile by keeping my skin soft, free from breakouts, and glowy (is that a word?).  So much so that I finally decided to do a review on this awesome tool.

.

Product Overview

The Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System uses patented sonic frequency to gently cleanse skin and remove makeup more then regular face washing.  These brush heads rotate at more then 300 movements per second to deep clean pores, exfoliate, and smooth skin.  The makers of the Clarisonic states that their products removes impurities from the skin thus allowing for our skincare products to be more effective.

The Clarisonic comes in different sizes and brush heads making it easy to tailor to your specific skincare needs.  It is safe to use twice a day and can be used in or out of the shower.

.

Directions

Make sure your Clarisonic is adequately charged before use.  Wet your skin and apply your non-abrasive cleanser of choice to the brush head. Use a curcular motion to cleanse your forehead (20 seconds), nose/chin (20 seconds) and both cheeks (10 seconds each).  No timer is necessary.  The Clarisonic will beep when it is time to move on to a different section of your face.

.

Price

The Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System comes in 4 different sizes…

Clarisonic Mia (1 Speed): $119

Clarisonic Mia 2 (2 Speeds): $149

Clarisonic Classic (2 Speeds): $195

Clarisonic Plus (3 Speeds): $225

Additional brush heads: $25 each

The Clarisonic also comes in multiple color choices with a multitude of accessories and skin care products to purchase at your discretion.

.

Availability

The Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System is available at multiple locations.  You can find it at Clarisonic.com, Ulta, Sephora, and QVC.

.

The Good

I own the the Clarisonic Classic and it does everything it claims to and more.  I have not always been very consistent with using it, but when I am, I definitely notice brighter, smoother, more supple skin with smaller pores.  I have acne prone combination skin that is oily in my T-zone.  Using the Clarisonic with my favorite cleanser has really kept breakouts to a minimum, and has overall balanced my skin.

I particularly love how the Clarisonic has a long battery life.  I usually get over 15 2-minute cleanings before having to recharge thus making it very convienient to travel with it.

.

The Bad

Even though this brush is supposed to be safe to use twice a day I will heavily advise against using it that often.  This tool is still a form of exfoliation, and twice a day usage can result in over-exfoliation.  I would recommend using the Clarisonic 3-5 times a week at most.

The Clarisonic is very expensive and many IT Girls on a budget are simply not willing to pay $100+ for a facial cleansing brush.  While the Clarisonic is well worth every penny, it took some convincing for me to finally spend such a large lump sum of cash on it.

.

The Verdict: ★★★★½

I hate to repeat myself but I LOVE MY CLARISONIC!  Hands down.  The only reason I did not give it a complete 5 star rating is because it does have the potential to over-exfoliate your skin and because it is just so darn expensive.  Nevertheless, if I ever had to do it all over again, I will definitely repurchase.
