If you are reading this then I am going to assume that you are an IT Girl who works hard for what she wants.  You may be a mother, a  daughter, or a single woman doing everything you can to carve  your way through your  fabulous corner of the world.

It is essential that we as women strike a balance between working hard in life, and enjoying life.  We must remember to work hard and play hard.  Take the time to smell the roses, enjoy nights out with friends, family, or that significant other, travel to exotic places, try new things, and treat yourself to regular pampering.

What do you do to enjoy life outside of work?  Leave a comment and lets discuss.

That IT Girl Rule #6

Get your clothing tailored…

 .

.

99% of clothing items made today are mass produced and made from patterns that are created to fit standard body sizes.  We all know that in the real world, there is no such thing as a standard sized woman.  We come in all shapes thus making it impossible for the clothing industry to custom fit each and every one of us.

It is typically very expensive to have clothing custom made, however it is essential to dress and style yourself as if your garments were designed specifically for you.  This is where a good tailor enters the scene.  Long gone are the days of flooding hemlines.  A tailor will alter your clothing to fit your specific body shape and size for usually a very reasonable fee.

If I find a pair of jeans that fit perfectly length wise but are too large in the waist, I will simply drop them off at my trusted tailor and have them taken in an inch or two.  This usually cost approximately $10-$20, but having a well fitting garment that compliments my body shape perfectly is priceless.

That IT Girl Rule #5

This rule hails from one of my readers who sent me a wonderful e-mail with this tip.

Read something everyday…

Reading daily is crucial for ensuring that an IT Girl stays mentally sharp.  You can read an article from the newspaper or an internet periodical (i.e CNN, Huffington Post, That IT Girl).  You can read a book, or chapters from the Bible or any other spiritual book.  Reading helps develop vocabulary and arms you with great conversation topics for social settings.  Just a thought.

I’ve had a love for reading my entire life but it is sometimes hard to find time to do so with such a busy schedule.  I’ve found that carrying a book, magazine, or my iPad wherever I go helps keep me abreast on current events.

Tell me some of the simple things you do to stimulate your intellect by leaving a comment below.
