“Why be any girl when you can be THAT IT GIRL?” -Maisha
Hey IT Girls. My name is Maisha Harris, and I am the creator of THAT IT GIRL, a blog for women who enjoy the gorgeous aspects of life. I am a proud Nigerian-American from Midwestern, USA with a bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzzzzzzzou-Raaaaaaah). After graduating from college I relocated to Texas where I currently work as a Registered Nurse
While I find my career very rewarding and stimulating, I have always been obsessed with makeup, fashion, entertaining, cooking, traveling, and living a charmed life. In 2009 I made the decision to create THAT IT GIRL to take a fun, and whimsical approach to teaching other women, as well as myself, the art of cultivating the essence of being the “fairer sex.”
My vision for THAT IT GIRL is to be a hybrid one-stop resource of fashion and beauty advice, interviews, lifestyle features, and reviews. I want to not only uplift all women and help create a sense of confidence, independence and passion for life but challenge them to go against the grain and dare to embrace being a woman.
Q: What is an IT Girl?
A: To be an IT GIRL means to be strong, confident, and purposefully feminine; to be a great woman all around; to be socially adaptable and cultured. It means being dedicated to putting your best foot forward in everything you do. I admire those that can balance family, friends, work, school, and a busy social schedule all while making it look effortless; those women that work tirelessly to develop a unique personal style, and maintain an impeccable appearance physically, emotionally and spiritually. We all love her because she has that je ne sais quoi..she has it…she is THAT IT GIRL.
Q: Where can we follow you?
I am all over the Internet!
Q: What are 3 beauty products you absolutely cannot live without?
A: Pink lip gloss, mascara, and water (the best beauty product on this earth).
Q: What are your favorite beauty brands?

Q: What is your favorite way to unwind after a long day?
A: Sip on a cup of my favorite herbal tea, watch movies on Netflix, and blog…all at the same time. I call it Sippy-blogger-tele-netting.
Q: Who shoots your photos/videos, and what type of camera do you use?
A: I typically set up and shoot my own photos and videos with lighting and all. Ever so often, my sweetie will double as my photographer and he is pretty damn good at it. I am currently using:
- Cannon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR with an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and an EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens
- iPhone 5s with or without my Olloclip 4-in-1 Lens System.

A: I edit a lot of my photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I have a TON of iPhone photography apps but my favorites are PS Express, Big Lens, and VSCOcam.
